about

autochtone (plural autochtones)

(rare) from the earth, ground, soil
(of a person, race, language, or the like) autochthonous, native, indigenous, aboriginal
(by extension, relational) of indigenous peoples, or land occupied by them
natural, native, innate (to a person)

***

"Autochtone" is some of my freshest work, having been recorded April-May 2022 at the Via Kosmische home studio.

It is especially inspired by the Mother Black Atlantis concept, and rich African culture and heritage.

It is also quite a personal and courageous work, where I share my inner world with the listeners through the concept, without fear, and find courage to experiment beyond what my listeners might usually expect from me.

***

In "Celebration of the Crocodile" I pay tribute to African synth pioneers like Francis Bebey, which is an inspiration that also runs deep on the next song, "Vagabunga". This one has also been inspired by dub and psychedelic music.

"The Tramp" is more of my usual rock'n'roll, but with a specific sound.

"3797" is an acoustic psychedelic folk noise ballad with flute in prominence.

"Don't Talk About It" is an experimental weird song based on the folk blues meets synth stylings of the freak 70s.

"My, My, the Morning" is an improvised ode to morning, riding on wah wah acoustic guitar.

"Jolly Little Rocker" is another rock'n'roll number, but once again the sound is rather specific.

"Coca (Bad Trip Aftermath)" is a nightmare of distortion and Schlager bass.

"Orchid in the Sun" is styled after the rich cassette underground, where lots of songs similar to it could be found quite easily. It's also 100% improvised.

Finally, "EB Blues", a piece dedicated to beer, is just an improv freak blues guitar solo.
