The Neptun holiday house in Darłówko was the place of my first experiments in sound back in 1998. I used to record tapes of me playing guitar, bass, keyboards, hand drums, manipulating tapes and vinyl, whatever was at hand really, and trying to use my teenage voice for the very first time. Most of these tapes got lost, though from the few surviving ones I reconstructed this album as a tribute to Neptun, a very creative place. I mixed in some more recent experiments, sometimes merging times and spaces across one track, using sound sculptures and sound sources from various years at once. The album is constructed as spending four seasons in a holiday house by the sea – starting with Summer – where we are presented with various glimpses of the environment – which was a post-communist complex of low rise buildings next to the dunes, with a monument dedicated to the communist block air force in the center, and a museum of aircraft between the holiday house and the military base. A Polish teenager could really get lost there for ages! And that's what I probably did, dropping acid, not bombs, but that's another story. Anyway, here am I, 23 years older, still making noise, music, and writing poems. I hope you enjoy this album, as the first eruption of lo-fi creativity, where having less equipment was a blessing, and having no budget was a gift. I'm still on low budget and less equipment, but times have changed... and those freewheeling summers at Neptun will never come back.
